Financial Controller

We're delighted to be partnering with a large, market-leading business to recruit an experienced Financial Controller for a key leadership role within a high-performing finance function.

Reporting directly to senior finance leadership, you will take responsibility for managing a small finance team and oversee the delivery of accurate, timely financial reporting within a highly controlled environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys leading teams, driving continuous improvement and maintaining strong financial governance.

Aplicants much have experience of internal controls and managing a team.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met.
• Managing and developing a multi-functional finance team, driving performance and capability across the department.
• Ensuring robust financial controls, governance and compliance procedures are maintained across the business.
• Acting as a key owner of internal control frameworks, ensuring controls are performed accurately and effectively.
• Supporting both internal and external audit processes and acting as a key point of contact for auditors.
• Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and overseeing the preparation of financial reporting and management information.
• Managing budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting activities.
• Building strong relationships with operational and senior stakeholders across multiple business units.
• Overseeing statutory compliance requirements including VAT and other regulatory reporting.
• Driving process improvements and identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and reporting quality.
• Supporting business change initiatives and continuous improvement projects.

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA)
• Proven financial management experience within a commercial environment.
• Strong staff management experience, with a track record of leading, developing and motivating finance teams.
• Experience operating within a robust internal controls framework, with a strong understanding of financial governance and risk management.
• Previous involvement in internal and external audit processes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to drive positive change.
