The Opportunity
As Assistant Accountant, you'll be at the heart of the finance function, supporting day-to-day operations while gaining exposure to wider financial strategy and reporting. You'll work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in maintaining accuracy, control, and efficiency across all financial processes.
This is not a "sit in the background" role - you'll be trusted, challenged, and given room to develop.
What You'll Be Doing
Overseeing the smooth processing of incoming and outgoing payments, ensuring everything is handled accurately and on schedule
Carrying out regular bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving any inconsistencies
Assisting in maintaining and analysing financial records, ensuring all figures and transactions are correctly reflected
Supporting the preparation of stakeholder reports, helping track performance metrics and key financial indicators
Playing an active role in month-end activities, including preparing journals and adjusting entries
Coordinating with external partners such as accountants and auditors to support reporting and compliance requirements
Contributing to financial planning cycles by gathering data and assisting with analysis for budgets and forecasts
Taking part in process improvements and additional finance projects as the business continues to evolve
Whats Needed
Solid grounding in double-entry bookkeeping and management accounts
Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage or similar)
Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment
A proactive mindset with the confidence to ask questions and suggest improvements
Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
