Salary: Up to £34,000 per annum + Bonus + Study package
Location: Liverpool City Centre
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
We are working with a well-established financial services organisation seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their growing finance team. This role sits within a robust operational finance function and offers excellent exposure to banking operations, financial controls, and senior stakeholder support.
The Role
Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of operational finance, producing accurate financial information to support business decision-making and maintaining a strong control environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and supporting relationships with multiple banking partners
- Completing daily bank reconciliations for member cash balances
- Overseeing daily payment processes to ensure payments are made in line with agreed SLAs
- Supporting the production of monthly management and KPI reporting
- Managing credit control processes and reporting aged debt positions
- Supporting the interest-sharing process and related reporting
- Reviewing and improving operational accounting processes and controls
- Contributing to finance projects with a focus on cost control and efficiency
- Acting as a mentor to junior team members and collaborating with wider teams to improve processes
About You
- Experience working within a strong financial control environment
- Previous exposure to banking and payment processing
- Experience operating across multiple banking platforms
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities effectively
- Clear communication skills at all levels
- A proactive, adaptable mindset with a positive approach to change
