Senior Management Accountant

Skelmersdale

£45,000 - £50,000

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Management Accountant looking to step up into a broader, more autonomous role within a multi-entity group structure. It would suit someone who has previously worked in a fast-paced environment, taking full ownership of the month-end process, and who has had exposure to audit and external reporting requirements.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives working independently, has strong technical accounting expertise, and can deliver accurate, timely financial information to support strategic decision-making and external reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Management Accounts

  • Full ownership of the monthly management accounts across all group entities

  • Preparation of a robust monthly MI pack to a high reporting standard

  • Variance analysis with clear and concise commentary on performance

  • Consolidation of group financials across all entities

Balance Sheet & Controls

  • Complete ownership of balance sheet reconciliations across all companies

  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and audit readiness of all financial records

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies proactively

Technical Accounting

  • Management of fixed asset registers, including:

    • Depreciation calculations

    • Asset disposals

    • Accounting for financed assets (e.g. leases/HP)

  • Handling intercompany transactions and reconciliations

  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns

  • Management of accruals and prepayments

Payroll & Related Accounting

  • Full responsibility for payroll across all entities

  • Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely processing

  • Reconciliation of payroll within management accounts

Group & Operational Support

  • Partner with operational teams across the group

  • Provide financial insight to support business performance

  • Assist with audit requirements and external reporting

Key Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

  • Fully qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA preferred) or qualified by experience

  • Strong background in management accounting and financial reporting

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with full month-end ownership

  • Exposure to audit processes and external reporting
